What can Twitter Tell us about Quitting Smoking?

For the past decade, the Health Media Collaboratory has studied whether and how televised anti-smoking ads influence individuals' ideas about smoking, and whether they will quit smoking. Recently the Collaboratory recognized the growing significance of social networks and developing a new conceptual framework for understanding the relationship between media and health behavior. The analytics teams at the Health Media Collaboratory struggled with their usual data analytics tools.
